Gale-force winds and high waves pounded the N C. coast last weekend eroding beaches, damaging piers and forcing a handful of residents to leave their beach front homes. C 28782 Arrested Here For DUI; Wanted For Armed Robbery Ronnie Pressley of Spartanburg was arrested in Tryon early Sunday morning by Police officer Nathan Shields, who was assisted by N. C. Patrolman Don Moran. Mr. Pressley drove up the little road behind Tryon Fuel Supply and the officers investigated and arrested him for driving under the influence. After he had been placed in the Polk County Jail they were notified by the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Department to be on the watch for him as he was a suspect in the robbing of a Fast Fare store in Inman. Tryon Police reported that the suspect had already been arrested and was in the Polk County jail. Meets Monday The Tryon School Board will meet Monday at 7 30 p.m. at the high school. This is a change in the meeting night from the 2nd Monday to the first Monday. Gets Degree Robert Dixon Dalton of Orlando. Fla. received a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida Southern College on December 19th. Mr. Dalton is the son of Mrs. Robert Dalton and the late Mr. Dalton of Tryon. He is a 1949 graduate of Tryon High School and entered the U S. Navy immediately following graduation. He retired from the Navy in September 1969 as First Class, he worked in California and received an Associate in Arts degree in 1977 from Evergreen Valley College in San Jose He moved to Florida in 1977 where he works with Continental Testing Laboratory at Fern Park.
